Operating at the nexus of art and design, Copenhagen artist Kristina Kazantseva creates enigmatic textile works that are best described by the artist herself as “furry objects”. Lest you think this means her approach to art is unserious, a quick scan of Kazantseva’s resume will soon prove you wrong: having studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Kazantseva’s work is deeply rooted in attention to detail and an obsession over fabrics (“I’m quite nerdy about colours,” she tells TROBAT). I work with textiles in the field between art and design.
I started working professionally two years ago, not long after finishing at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where I studied Textile Design. Working with textiles came very naturally, I love the feel of textures and am quite nerdy about colours. I’ve always been a creative.
I’ve moved around quite a bit, most recently my studio was set up at The Danish Art Workshops in Copenhagen, while working on some larger textile pieces. It’s quite an extraordinary place with space to unfold. At the moment I’m looking forward to settling down in London and being part of the creative community there.
Recently the book ‘The Art of Happiness’ by The Dalai Lama found me at a book swap. This is something I’m very much looking forward to reading on my next flight.
I’m a Leo. I do believe that I embody parts of my star sign and definitely get energy from the sun.
