Bar Marsella is associated with Hemingway, perhaps because he is the celebrity who most frequented the place, but artists such as DalÃ, Picasso and Gaudà also dropped by. In two centuries of history, this bar has given a lot. It is located at the crossroads between the streets of Sant Pau and Sant Ramon, in the heart of the Raval, and maintains the bohemian spirit with which it was born: from its ceiling still hang the lights of the time, there are centuries-old bottles covered with solid dust and cobwebs are seen everywhere; to enter is to take a trip back in time. In December 2013 the Marsella was in danger: the owners wanted the bar owner to leave the premises, but the City Council exercised its right of withdrawal, bought it and saved it. For most Barcelonians, Bar Marsella is intimately linked to absinthe, a potent drink taken with dissolved sugar.
