This house, now also a museum, was built between 1904 and 1911, and has been attributed to Joan Rubió i Bellver, a Catalan architect who worked in Mallorca with Antoni Gaudí. It stands out for the profusion of decoration on the facade and for the stained glass windows and floors with floral decorations. Its interior integrates the original furniture of the house and a collection of art from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Can Prunera is an outstanding example of Modernism in Mallorca, with Catalan and French Art Nouveau influences. It is not known exactly who its architect was, but it is attributed to Joan Rubió i Bellver (1870-1952), a Catalan architect who worked in Mallorca with Antoni Gaudí.
Highlights include the floral garlands sculpted on the facade, the undulating shapes of the windows and the wrought iron balcony, as well as the richly ornamented stained glass windows and floors.
The museum houses part of the original furniture of the house and a collection of 19th and 20th century art, with works by Joan Miró, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Paul Klee, Fernand Léger and Maurice Vlaminck; also on display are works by Mallorcan painters or those linked to Mallorca, such as Santiago Rusiñol, Joaquim Mir, Joan Fuster and Miquel Barceló.
