Christiansø is part of the Ertholmene archipelago. This little group of islands is owned by the Danish State under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Defence. It is situated approximately 20 km north-east of the Danish island of Bornholm and comprises the two inhabited islands of Christiansø and Frederiksø, the Græsholm bird sanctuary and several rocky islets of varying sizes. Everything on these islands is unconditionally preserved, including the structures, flora and fauna. Today around 90 people live on the islands.
