The Fundació Joan Miró was created by the artist himself—considered one of the greatest in Spain’s history. At first it was principally filled with works from Miró’s own private collection but soon became an internationally recognised art centre in Barcelona.The Fundació opened to the public on 10 June 1975 and has since become a dynamic centre in which Joan Miró’s work coexists with cutting-edge contemporary art from emerging and established artists from Spain and the rest of the world.
