Founded by Knud W. Jensen, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art was first created to make art more accessible for all Danish people—not just the elite. That was in the late 1950s. Since then, Louisiana has become one of Denmark’s most loved modern art galleries. The stunning waterside location provides a picturesque backdrop for the gallery and sculpture garden. As well as an exhibition hall, Louisiana also houses a cafe, gallery shop and children’s wing.
